D.B. Marketing offers Self Directed Speculative and Hedging accounts. All trades are cleared through our Futures Commission Merchant (FCM), R.J. O’Brien.  R.J. O’Brien was founded in 1914 and is the oldest and largest independent futures brokerage and clearing firm in the United States.
D.B. Marketing’s goal is to provide our futures’ clients the best possible advice and service year after year.  Our brokers are salary-based, not commission-based, so our clients’ best interests always come first.

FOUNDER: Dan DeBoer

D.B. Marketing, Inc. was founded by Dan and Ann DeBoer in 1989, offering advice to grain farmers on when to sell their corn, soybeans, and wheat, along with offering commodity brokerage services to assist in increasing our clients’ bottom line.

Since Dan’s death in July of 2012, Scott and Ann continue to serve their clients with Dan's same passion and integrity. Many of Dan’s analysis theories and techniques are still relevant and we continue to use them in our research and recommendations. Our cash grain marketing advice is now being offered by DB Ag Services.

Types of Accounts

D.B. Marketing's Speculative Accounts allow you to have a $5000 minimum. We suggest you have at least three times the margin requirement available. Most successful traders use stops that are 2% or less of their total equity. Losing trades are common so investors are cautioned that proper money management is crucial to success and should be emphasized at all times.

Hedging is an excellent way to capture higher prices on grain that is not priced. We cover short strategies for corn, soybeans, and wheat using Futures and Options. Two advantages to this account are that any losses are fully deductible on your tax return and the margin requirements are lower. Please note that you can only take futures positions that offset your cash positions in this account. We often suggest a speculative account in addition to this account so that you may take the same position as you have in cash to utilize strategies not accepted as hedging by the IRS.
